Why do we consider one of Avrahams tests to leave his home town, who wouldnt leave town for children, he was desperate for them.

Promises of future rewards are not enough to get people to conquer NISYANOIS. Consider this HASHEM had to ask the Yidden to stay in Mitrayim one extra day in order for us to get all the gold and silver and thereby fulfill HIS promise to Avraham - it seems that a normal person would rather leave prison one day early with nothing, then stay one extra day and receive mass riches and wealth.

I find that hard to swallow. Who would not stay an extra day in prison for mass wealth and riches? - Yehuda HaMaccabiNov 09  '12 at 00:41

That question is brought down and I saw brought down that the test was for him to do it for Hashem's sake. And a couple pesukim later it says וילך אברהם כאשר דבר אליו ה to show that he did do it with the right intentions.

Hey, nice thought. But it is funny that the main test is not even written in the parshah, no? - PhilOct 28  '12 at 00:51
