Why is it that I get the feeling that we arent Noiheg to make the Brachah of HaToiv VeHametiv after having a baby boy? I saw in Simon 223 that one should but what is the Minhag?

Pretty sure that there is no minhag "not" to make the Bracha however due to the busy timing right after baby is born, settling in hospital arranging Shalom Z and Bris etc. - people simply forget.

As soon as I wrote my question i thought that what you said is probably the answer. I wonder how long you have to do it, ie can you do it a week later? (Would vote but havent got the minimum 15 rep) - PhilOct 22  '12 at 23:46

Also in Simon 222 (just before the one you quote) that the brucha is not just on a baby boy but on any shmuos tovos. Any of you who have beutiful erlicha daughters won't tell me that when you heard they born safely that wasn't a shmuos tova!
