Why in the Birchas Hachodesh we say before Mussaf on Shabbos do we pray to have long life. It would seem that all the other requests are for that month to be good, ie. parnassa, health but how is it possible for the month to have Chaim Aruchim? (As a bonus perhaps bring your answers why we pray for Yiras Shomayim twice :-) )

The Gemoro (cant remember where, will update when I find it) says that Arichas Yomim is not only living long but rather to have very fulfilling days in which one makes the seconds count. In that case, we are praying to have a very fulfilling Chodesh!
